Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a woman who was discovered with chop wounds on a road in San Fernando on Tuesday.
Police found the body after receiving an anonymous call at 4.20 pm about a woman lying motionless on the side of the road near Light Pole 18, Hermitage Extension, Debe Road.
Police said the body was partially covered with a blue and multi-coloured blanket.
The deceased was described as being of mixed descent, light brown in complexion, with short black curly hair, and about five feet five inches tall. She was wearing a black top and tights.
The body was removed to a funeral home pending an autopsy at the Forensic Science Centre, St James.
When Guardian Media visited the scene yesterday, several people were still unaware of the incident.
The road had street lights but it is a lonely farming area with no houses.
One man, who wished not to be identified, said a body was dumped in the same area a few years ago.
Another man called for the installation of cameras, since the area was being used as a dumping ground and there had been rampant praedial larceny.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau Region III and Southern Division visited the scene.
Investigations are continuing.
