Police officers are still trying to ascertain the identities of the two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting Jimmy Thomas, 28, of Ojoe Road in Sangre Grande.

Police are asking members of the public to assist them in identifying the perpetrators of the crime.

Guardian Media was told that up to late Thursday, no one was arrested and no positive identities of the suspects had been received.

According to a police report, at about 9 pm on Tuesday, Thomas was standing at the corner of Boodoo Circular and Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande, in front of a bar, when he was approached by two men.

One of the men, as seen in a video that went viral on social media, attempted to grab Thomas’ gold chain. Thomas resisted.

There was a struggle between Thomas and the men before one of them drew a gun and shot him several times. The suspect holding the firearm then grabbed the gold chain. Both suspects then ran away.

Police are appealing to anyone with information on the identities of the suspects to contact them at 800 TIPS, 555, 999 or via the TTPS’ app.
