The Homicide Bureau of the T&T Police Service (TTPS) is still awaiting the DNA results to determine if the skeletal remains found in Valsayn on March 12 are that of Hannah Mathura.
While investigators had hoped to have the final results by March 29, officials yesterday said they were still waiting.
Snr Supt Rishi Singh, who leads the Homicide Bureau, told Guardian Media, “The results from FSC not yet available.”
The FSC he referred to is the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
The skeletal remains were found buried in a shallow grave at the family’s property at Butu Road, Valsayn, several weeks ago, after a relative allegedly went to the police and reported the horrific acts the family had allegedly suffered at the hands of a relative.
The remains were believed to be those of Mathura, 18, who reportedly died in 2017.
The discovery created a public uproar and a manhunt was carried out for Mathura’s father, who was arrested days after the find at an apartment in Tunapuna.
Along with the father, Mathura’s mother was also taken into custody and questioned by police. They were later released with no charges being laid against them.
