Police are investigating the death of Sherry Ann Roet, whose decomposing body was discovered near a fish stall close to a temple in Carli Bay, Couva, yesterday.
Investigators said at 11 am, officers from the Couva Police Station received a report about a body seen hanging. W/Cpl James and other officers responded to the scene to gather further information.
Roet’s body was found in a state of decomposition, raising questions about the circumstances of her death. Investigators have not ruled out murder as a possibility for Roet’s death.
Roet, who had been in a common-law relationship for over 20 years, operated a small business selling sweets and other items with her partner. The couple owned several vehicles, including a van, which was discovered near her body. Roet leaves behind two sons, ages 18 and 15.
Investigators are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. An autopsy is expected to be conducted to determine the cause of death. — Radhica De Silva
