Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the death of Sher­ry Ann Roet, whose de­com­pos­ing body was dis­cov­ered near a fish stall close to a tem­ple in Car­li Bay, Cou­va, yes­ter­day.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said at 11 am, of­fi­cers from the Cou­va Po­lice Sta­tion re­ceived a re­port about a body seen hang­ing. W/Cpl James and oth­er of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to the scene to gath­er fur­ther in­for­ma­tion.

Roet’s body was found in a state of de­com­po­si­tion, rais­ing ques­tions about the cir­cum­stances of her death. In­ves­ti­ga­tors have not ruled out mur­der as a pos­si­bil­i­ty for Roet’s death.

Roet, who had been in a com­mon-law re­la­tion­ship for over 20 years, op­er­at­ed a small busi­ness sell­ing sweets and oth­er items with her part­ner. The cou­ple owned sev­er­al ve­hi­cles, in­clud­ing a van, which was dis­cov­ered near her body. Roet leaves be­hind two sons, ages 18 and 15.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors are ap­peal­ing to any­one with in­for­ma­tion to come for­ward. An au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to be con­duct­ed to de­ter­mine the cause of death. — Rad­hi­ca De Sil­va
