Corporal remains critical after being allegedly shot by female relative

An act­ing cor­po­ral who was al­leged­ly shot by a fe­male rel­a­tive with his own gun dur­ing an al­ter­ca­tion at their Barataria home on Wednes­day night, is in crit­i­cal con­di­tion at hos­pi­tal.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors who vis­it­ed the of­fi­cer around 8 am yes­ter­day at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex (EWM­SC), Mt Hope, re­port­ed he was ward­ed at the In­ten­sive Care Unit (ICU).

The 44-year-old of 11th Street, Barataria was shot in the right up­per chest on Sep­tem­ber 22, as he ar­gued with the 40-year-old woman.

It is al­leged the of­fi­cer stabbed the woman once in the arm dur­ing the ar­gu­ment fol­low­ing which she man­aged to get hold of his ser­vice re­volver and used it to fire a sin­gle shot at the of­fi­cer.

The of­fi­cer un­der­went emer­gency surgery fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent for in­ter­nal bleed­ing, and dam­age to his lungs and liv­er from the bul­let frag­ments.

The woman who is a Hu­man Re­source Con­sul­tant was treat­ed for her wound and has been de­tained at the Mor­vant Po­lice Sta­tion since Wednes­day.
