A Piarco couple was robbed of $60,000 in cash on Wednesday, as they conducted roti sales out of their house in St Helena Village.
The two were engaged in sales around 1 pm, when three men entered the establishment, one of whom was armed with a gun.
The men locked the woman in a washroom and forced the man upstairs, where they ransacked the couple’s apartment, demanding cash and valuables.
The men beat him about the head and threatened to shoot him. The victim became fearful and directed the suspects to a bedroom where he handed over a plastic bag containing $60,000 in cash.
The suspects also took a Samsung S10 cellphone, a Blu cellphone, and the DVR for the home’s security system, before fleeing through the back door.
