In a time when millions of lives are being cut short because of a disease, many words are being left unsaid and love is not being expressed. That’s why one local couple decided to put all their love cards on the table now.

“You just know, you does just know,” Rennie Ramphal said.

After three months of dating, Ramphal proposed to his girlfriend Sasha Ramcharan.

“I wanted that in my life that kind of person, that personality just being her and the way she thinks,” he added.

But his proposal was not done in the traditional way, even though that was his original plan.

“It was supposed to be like a lil romantic scene where flowers, music playing, I might sing a song for her, play the guitar but everything I tried to put together, actually I was moving lil iffy, she figured out,” he said.

“I wasn’t really digging up, you know, he tried to hide stuff but because we don’t have anything hiding amongst ourselves… it wasn’t intentional,” his girlfriend Ramcharan added.

To ensure she didn’t suspect anything, Ramphal ditched the romance for suspense and had a police officer act as though he was arresting him.

In an approximately six-minute video posted to social media, Ramphal had a police officer search his work truck for “illegal drugs.”

“He said that how he get a report that I transporting drugs,” Ramphal said in the video.

Not long after, the lone police officer pulled out a sack of white substance.

“It was salt,” Ramphal clarified.

The police officer then put Ramphal under arrest, “get on your knees,” he shouted and that was when he pulled out a box with the ring.

“I was shaking, I was thinking that he was just trying to get it done because he was planning so long and he was using the opportunity as best as he can, it was when everybody started to laugh then I realised what was happening,” Ramcharan said.

She said she was really surprised.

“He lucky I said yes,” she joked.

Many people shared the same emotion online.

JH said, “Soooo cute and anxiety-driven. Congratulations to the couple. All the best on you’ll union.”

And Nicholas said, “really had me fooled, congratulations.”

However, the couple did not think their video would go viral but just like their connection sometimes the best things happen unexpectedly.

“Everything is just falling into place and I know this is the right decision that the both of us are making,” Ramcharan said.

They plan to wed in March.
