Couva Carnival Committee launches Carnival 2025, but no funding yet

The Cou­va Car­ni­val Com­mit­tee promis­es 6 days of cel­e­bra­tions for the 2025 sea­son. 

This an­nounce­ment was made by Ram­c­hand Ra­jbal Maraj, the Chair­man of the CCC, at the of­fi­cial launch of cel­e­bra­tions on Sat­ur­day at the  Bear Feel­ings Bar, Ex­change Road, Cou­va.

Ra­jbal Maraj said the theme for this year’s cel­e­bra­tions is Car­ni­val is alive in 2025. 

He said the CCC is work­ing with a bud­get of $489,000. How­ev­er, he said the Na­tion­al Car­ni­val Com­mis­sion is yet to re­lease any monies to the com­mit­tee. 

Ra­jbal Maraj said the  CCC was al­so ap­peal­ing to the busi­ness com­mu­ni­ty, es­pe­cial­ly in­dus­tries on the Point Lisas In­dus­tri­al Es­tate to spon­sor some events. 

He said the CCC is al­so hop­ing to in­crease all first-place prizes by $2000. 

Cou­va South MP Rudranath In­dars­ingh com­mend­ed the CCC for their ef­forts over the years in keep­ing the Cou­va Car­ni­val as one of the bright­est re­gion­al cel­e­bra­tions. 

The launch show­cased sev­er­al car­ni­val bands and per­for­mances by var­i­ous ca­lyp­so­ni­ans in­clud­ing Ter­ri Lyons.
