A back­seat pas­sen­ger in a ve­hi­cle was killed on the spot when two cars col­lid­ed near De­onar­ine Junc­tion in Cou­va on Sun­day.

Po­lice said 22-year-old Adana Alexan­der, of Cal­cut­ta Road, Mc Bean, Cou­va, was the on­ly one who died in the col­li­sion, which left two oth­ers in­jured.

Of­fi­cers said around 4.40 am, a Toy­ota Field­er, in which Alexan­der was a back­seat pas­sen­ger, was be­ing dri­ven by a 21-year-old woman from Freeport and head­ing north along McBean Road. When the ve­hi­cle reached De­onar­ine Junc­tion, the dri­ver re­port­ed­ly at­tempt­ed to turn right in­to Cal­cut­ta Road No. 3. At that mo­ment, the Toy­ota Field­er col­lid­ed with a Nis­san Ce­firo that was trav­el­ling south.

The 44-year-old male dri­ver of the Ce­firo, from San­ta Flo­ra, and the fe­male dri­ver of the Field­er both sus­tained in­juries.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
