?While some Carnival promoters and bandleaders remain opposed to the staging of the upcoming Beyonce concert in Trinidad, one band is embracing the event, stating that it is a good opportunity for T&T to showcase its culture to the world. Medium-sized Carnival band, D Krewe, said it would purchase 500 general admission tickets for the concert and distribute them to the band's masqueraders. Lynn Patrice Ochoa, D Krewe's public relations/marketing executive officer, said the band jumped at the opportunity, as it wanted to maximise the entertainment value of its service to masqueraders.
"We support anything that will bring more visitors to T&T for the Carnival, because we see this as a great opportunity to expose what we have to offer on an even larger scale," she said, in a telephone interview, yesterday. "We also recognise and have listened to our masqueraders and supporters, who would like the chance to see Beyonce in concert, and we jumped at the chance to extend our customer experience beyond the Carnival season."
