The T&T Police Service (TTPS) has denied that the laptop of murdered attorney Randall Hector is missing.

In fact, DCP Suzette Martin told Guardian Media all evidence collected at this time in relation to the investigation has been properly secured, and there is no indication that any evidence is missing.

In a release issued yesterday, the TTPS dismissed an Express newspaper article saying that Hector’s laptop, which may contain clues that could assist the police in solving his murder, had gone missing.

Last December 31, Hector was murdered in front of his family after attending a church on Stanmore Avenue, Port-of-Spain.

Hector worked as a legal officer with the Strategic Services Agency and up to the time of his death was assigned to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) where he was responsible for prosecuting a reputed gang leader.

The TTPS release stated that the investigation into Hector’s murder is actively being pursued by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations.

However, Martin went further. She said, “Our investigators are working diligently to follow all leads and are committed to ensuring that justice is served. The TTPS understands the community’s concern and appreciates the support as we pursue this investigation.

“We urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. This investigation remains active, and we will continue to provide updates as appropriate.”
