Deputy Police Commissioner (DCP) Junior Benjamin is clearing the air on video that has now gone viral showing him preaching with what looked like a police bulletproof vest on.
Speaking with Guardian Media last evening Benjamin said he is a Bishop of the Pentecostal Assembly of the United States, the Assistant Bishop of Northwest Pentecostal Assembly, and also the Pastor of the Cathedral of Excellence and he was using a prop during a sermon last August.
“I was doing an illustrative sermon called being battle ready with my own bulletproof vest. In doing that battle-ready, I was encouraging people to, you know, to be strong. Don’t allow external situations to cause them, to quiver or even to become discouraged.”
“I was just declaring some of the things that I was declaring over my life, that I would not die before my time, that I would be a commissioner of police, that I would be a good one, you know, that I would, you know, be a leader of leaders. And I was just declaring that in the same month to encourage the people,” Benjamin explained.
In the viral video, the DCP and pastor was quoted as saying “I don’t care what the crime situation is, be strong”.
Responding to questions, Benjamin said “If you see the full insert, it was a wonderful piece. Somebody just took that part and took it out there. I’m not sure what the intent was. I’m seeing all sorts of comments as if it just happened. That was since last year, August. “
Asked if he believed that with recent developments surrounding the Commissioner of Police, the video was deliberately released to cause mischief, Benjamin said, “But my personal view is that, you know, what people meant for evil, God is going to make it for good reasons.”
