The decomposing body of a man was found lying face-down in a mud volcano, approximately eight kilometres west of Chatham Beach South, on Thursday, January 26.
Guardian Media understands the deceased is believed to be Dominic "Dancer" Gokool, who has been missing since January 13, 2023.
A search for the missing man had been ongoing since Saturday, January 21, with officers from the Police Service and the Hunters Search and Rescue Team combining forces to locate his whereabouts.

At about at about 4:00 pm yesterday, information led a Joint Search Team comprising police officers of the South-Western Division and Hunters Search and Rescue Team to search in the area of the mud volcano in Chatham, where a man’s decomposing remains were discovered.
The body was eventually removed and transported by boat to the Chatham Beach.
The Hunters Search and Rescue Team was led by Captain Vallence Rambharat.
The TTPS Team was led by ASP Mathura and ASP Darryl Ramdass of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and included Sargeant Boodoo, Sargeant Sobie, and Corporal Seecharan.
