Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing the death of a 72-year-old man whose de­com­pos­ing body was found in his San Fer­nan­do home on Mon­day.

Po­lice iden­ti­fied the man as Den­nis Pierre of Rail­way Line, King’s Wharf.

Of­fi­cers said around 11.45 am, a 33-year-old neigh­bour was walk­ing in front of his house when she de­tect­ed a foul smell em­a­nat­ing from in­side. Up­on check­ing, she saw Pierre ly­ing in a bed­room. He was not mov­ing. He lived alone.

An au­top­sy is ex­pect­ed to be done at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre in Port-of-Spain this week.

Supt Jaikaran, ASP Ram­saran, and ASP Ram­lo­gan were among of­fi­cers from the South­ern Di­vi­sion who were at the scene. PC Rooplal is in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
