Re­cip­i­ents of so­cial wel­fare cheques will face de­lays in Oc­to­ber due to tech­ni­cal dif­fi­cul­ties with the print­ing process.

In a re­lease, the Min­istry of the Peo­ple, So­cial De­vel­op­ment and Fam­i­ly Ser­vices said the de­lay af­fects Se­nior Cit­i­zens’ Pen­sion, Dis­abil­i­ty As­sis­tance, Pub­lic As­sis­tance Grants, and Food Sup­port.

The Min­istry said it is work­ing with all part­ners to bring about a quick res­o­lu­tion, and once re­solved, dis­tri­b­u­tion will be­gin with­out de­lay.

It added that clients on di­rect de­posit will not be af­fect­ed, as funds will con­tin­ue to be sent di­rect­ly to their bank ac­counts.

The Min­istry al­so en­cour­aged more clients to sign up for di­rect de­posit by vis­it­ing any So­cial Wel­fare Of­fice or down­load­ing forms from www.so­cial.gov.tt.
