Thirty-four-year-old David Bremnor has been charged with the murder of 71-year-old Raphael Vialva. He has also been charged with the attempted murder and wounding of two others. The accused is expected to appear before the Port- of -Spain Magistrates Court on April 28th.
According to police reports, on April 20th officers attached to the West End Police Station responded to a report of an assault at Field Trace, Waterwheel Road, Diego Martin.
During investigations, officers were told that at around 2 am three people were allegedly chopped and sustained injuries. The victims were taken to the St James Medical Complex, where Raphael Vialva succumbed to his injuries. A female victim was treated for stab wounds to her upper body and a male victim was treated and subsequently discharged.
Bremnor of Ibis Drive, Diego Martin and Field Trace, Blue Basin, Diego Martinwas was arrested by officers attached to the Western Division relative to the enquiry and was detained at the West End Police Station.
On April 27th during a meeting with the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Roger Gaspard SC, officers were advised to charge the accused.
The investigation was supervised by Inspectors Lynch, Jones and Legal Officer Insp Mongroo, all of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region One with assistance from officers attached to the Western Division.
