Thir­ty-sev­en-year-old Randy An­im Man­soor al­so known as DJ Smooth has been charged with chok­ing with in­tent to ren­der un­con­scious, com­mon as­sault, and as­sault by beat­ing. He was grant­ed $80,000 bail by Jus­tice of the Peace Carl Dat­too yes­ter­day. He is ex­pect­ed to re-ap­pear in court on Ju­ly 14th. He was ar­rest­ed and charged with the of­fences by WPC Gadar. 

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, on Feb­ru­ary 14th at around 9.30 pm a woman was at her home when her hus­band ar­rived at the home and a ver­bal al­ter­ca­tion en­sued be­tween both par­ties. It is al­leged that dur­ing the al­ter­ca­tion, the woman was choked, a knife was placed in her face and threats were made to her life. 

An in­ves­ti­ga­tion was launched by of­fi­cers of the Spe­cial Vic­tims De­part­ment, East­ern Di­vi­sion and as a re­sult of the in­ves­ti­ga­tions, Man­soor was ar­rest­ed and charged in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent. In­ves­ti­ga­tions were con­duct­ed by W/In­sp Bac­chus, W/ASP Bridglal and su­per­vised by W/Supt Guy-Al­leyne.
