DNA tests have con­firmed the body found float­ing in a riv­er in Ca­roni last month was miss­ing elec­tri­cian Shi­va Lochan.

Hunters Search and Res­cue Team post­ed the con­fir­ma­tion on its Face­book page ex­tend­ing con­do­lences to the fam­i­ly.

The body was found in a riv­er at Laun­dry Road in Kel­ly Vil­lage on De­cem­ber 17. Lochan, 28, of Welling­ton Road, Debe, went miss­ing on De­cem­ber 7. He left home in a work van that evening to do a pri­vate job in Palmiste. They last spoke to him some­time be­fore 9 pm. But, lat­er that night calls to his phone went to voice­mail. The fol­low­ing morn­ing when his col­league called for Lochan to pick him up for work they re­alised that some­thing was wrong. They made a miss­ing per­son's re­port at the po­lice sta­tion.

Their in­quires re­vealed that two with­drawals were made from his ac­count and three days lat­er the com­pa­ny ve­hi­cle he used was found aban­doned in Cunu­pia mi­nus all his tools. Ex­press­ing her grief over Face­book, Asha Per­sad was still in dis­be­lief.

She post­ed, "I still feel like it's a bad dream and I'll wake up and you will be here bro.

My heart is not ready for this, I'm not ready to say good­bye to you Shi­va Lochan.

You didn't de­serve what hap­pen to you I will ques­tion this for the rest of my life. I guess God had oth­er plans for you and need­ed you."

She said wait­ing for the DNA re­sults was al­so trau­mat­ic.

"You went miss­ing since the 7th De­cem­ber, 2023, found your body in a way we couldn't be sure it's you on the 17th De­cem­ber, 2023 had to wait un­til 28th Jan­u­ary, 2024 to get DNA re­sults it was a long process of stress and anx­i­ety to deal with, every­one in the fam­i­ly is trau­ma­tized by this we though in our mind that we are ready to face what's to come, but fac­ing re­al­i­ty bro and know­ing we have to say our good­byes to you this week is some­thing our hearts is not pre­pared for."

She prayed that God will give their fam­i­ly the strength to en­dure this or­deal." You will for­ev­er be in our hearts and mem­o­ries we love you very much and miss you so so much it hurts man.
