DNA tests have confirmed the body found floating in a river in Caroni last month was missing electrician Shiva Lochan.
Hunters Search and Rescue Team posted the confirmation on its Facebook page extending condolences to the family.
The body was found in a river at Laundry Road in Kelly Village on December 17. Lochan, 28, of Wellington Road, Debe, went missing on December 7. He left home in a work van that evening to do a private job in Palmiste. They last spoke to him sometime before 9 pm. But, later that night calls to his phone went to voicemail. The following morning when his colleague called for Lochan to pick him up for work they realised that something was wrong. They made a missing person's report at the police station.
Their inquires revealed that two withdrawals were made from his account and three days later the company vehicle he used was found abandoned in Cunupia minus all his tools. Expressing her grief over Facebook, Asha Persad was still in disbelief.
She posted, "I still feel like it's a bad dream and I'll wake up and you will be here bro.
My heart is not ready for this, I'm not ready to say goodbye to you Shiva Lochan.
You didn't deserve what happen to you I will question this for the rest of my life. I guess God had other plans for you and needed you."
She said waiting for the DNA results was also traumatic.
"You went missing since the 7th December, 2023, found your body in a way we couldn't be sure it's you on the 17th December, 2023 had to wait until 28th January, 2024 to get DNA results it was a long process of stress and anxiety to deal with, everyone in the family is traumatized by this we though in our mind that we are ready to face what's to come, but facing reality bro and knowing we have to say our goodbyes to you this week is something our hearts is not prepared for."
She prayed that God will give their family the strength to endure this ordeal." You will forever be in our hearts and memories we love you very much and miss you so so much it hurts man.
Sleep in peace bro."
