Dominica is reintroducing online embarkation and disembarkation forms as it aims to streamline the entry process for visitors. First introduced in 2023, according to a release from the Discover Dominica Authority, the initiative now goes back into effect today, October 18th. Physical ED cards are still being accepted as the system transitions to being fully online.
Visitors to the island can submit their details on the online ED card form available at https://edcard.dominica.gov.dm. Once the form is submitted, they will receive confirmation and a QR code which must either be printed out or saved on a mobile device to present at the port of entry along with their passport. The form should be submitted no more than three (3) days before travel to Dominica.
Tourism Director Marva Williams said, “by introducing online immigration forms, we are taking a significant step towards modernizing our travel processes and enhancing the overall visitor experience. We believe this initiative will simplify entry into Dominica and showcase our commitment to providing exceptional service to our guests.”
Several Caribbean nations offer online embarkation/disembarkation forms including Barbados, St Lucia, St Kitts & Nevis, and Jamaica. Trinidad & Tobago still uses physical forms although there are plans for online forms to be introduced. On September 30th Finance Minister Colm Imbert announced the government’s plan for a legal team to begin working on the framework for digital disembarkation/embarkation cards. The project is expected to begin in 2025.
