Three ban­dits were held min­utes af­ter they robbed a 65-year-old woman of her hand­bag in St Anns ear­ly yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the woman was on St Ann’s Road, at around 5.10 am when the ban­dits snatched her bag, got in­to a white Hyundai Ac­cent and sped off.

A re­port was made and of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion ini­ti­at­ed a “drag­net” across two di­vi­sions to search for the sus­pects.

Po­lice re­port­ed see­ing a car match­ing the de­scrip­tion of the ve­hi­cle used in the rob­bery on the Mor­vant Old Road. They in­ter­cept­ed the ve­hi­cle, searched it and found the woman’s hand­bag in the front pas­sen­ger seat.

The sus­pects, two 20-year-olds and a 16-year-old from Mor­vant and Port-of-Spain were ar­rest­ed.

Po­lice from the Bel­mont CID are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.

The re­sponse was led by Cpls Christo­pher, and Oma­dath to­geth­er with PCs Blades, Bee­tam, Sam­my, Gan­goo, Aguillera and Leza­ma.

Four held, gan­ja and gun seized in St Joseph

A se­ries of pa­trols and search­es in St Joseph ear­ly yes­ter­day morn­ing led to the seizure of mar­i­jua­na, a gun and the ar­rest of four men.

Of­fi­cers from the North-Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force West, Tu­na­puna CID, North­ern Di­vi­sion Sup­port Unit and Ca­nine Unit be­gan the ex­er­cise at 3 am and end­ed it at 7 am.

Dur­ing the op­er­a­tion, they vis­it­ed a house at Gua­mal Hill, Acono Road, Mara­cas/St Joseph, where they found a Beretta PX4 Storm pis­tol with 24 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion. A 29-year-old man, who po­lice de­scribed as a pri­or­i­ty of­fend­er, was ar­rest­ed.

Po­lice vis­it­ed an­oth­er house in the area where they found 171 grams of mar­i­jua­na and ar­rest­ed a 46-year-old man. They ar­rest­ed two oth­er men in area for pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na.

The ex­er­cise was led by ACP Os­wain Subero, Snr Supt Richard Smith, Supt Ter­rence Now­butt and W/Supt Pow­der, with su­per­vi­sion from Sgt Pe­ters and Cpl Good­ing.
