Three bandits were held minutes after they stole a 65-year-old woman’s handbag in St Anns early on Friday morning.
Police said the woman was on St Ann’s Road, at around 5.10 am when bandits snatched her bag.
The bandits got into a white Hyundai Accent and sped off.
A report was made and officers of the Port of Spain Division initiated a “dragnet” across two divisions.
Police in the area reported seeing a car matching the description of the vehicle driving on the Morvant Old Road.
Police followed the car to Dorata Street, where they intercepted it and searched the vehicle.
Officers found the woman’s handbag in the front passenger seat.
The two 20-year-olds and one 16-year-old who are from Morvant and Port of Spain were arrested.
Police from the Belmont CID are continuing enquiries.
The response was led by Cpls Christopher, Omadath together with PCs Blades, Beetam, Sammy, Gangoo, Aguillera and Lezama.
