A 53-year-old man, who police described as being “well known” to them, was gunned down while waiting for passengers at the Malick taxi stand yesterday morning.
Police said Sherwin Findley was plying his blue Toyota Yaris for hire on Sixth Avenue, near the Eastern Main Road, when he was confronted by a gunman wearing blue coveralls and a black mask. The gunman shot Findley several times before running away on Sixth Avenue.
North Eastern Division Task Force officers were called and took Findley to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he was declared dead.
Investigators said Findley had survived several murder attempts in the past.
Police said Findley’s body remained at the hospital yesterday.
Officers from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II are continuing enquiries.— Shane Superville
