Po­lit­i­cal leader of the Pro­gres­sive De­mo­c­ra­t­ic Pa­tri­ots (PDP) and Deputy Chief Sec­re­tary Wat­son Duke, is now chal­leng­ing the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly to ful­fil a promise of jobs for youths in To­ba­go.

In a Face­book post Mon­day af­ter­noon, Duke said that nine months ago the PDP cam­paigned on cre­at­ing jobs, em­ploy­ment and op­por­tu­ni­ties for the youths on the is­land.

"To­day, nine months...9 months lat­er oc­cu­py­ing the THA Ex­ec­u­tive the youths are ask­ing for jobs/em­ploy­ment and op­por­tu­ni­ties??? What is the plan of the “One Boss, One Chief Sec­re­tary and One Team”? I have not heard of any­thing. Have you heard the plan? With­out Vi­sion a peo­ple per­ish," he said.

He added, "It’s time to stop the grab for pow­er and put “PEO­PLE BE­FORE POL­I­TICS. Time to Fix Dis.”

The Face­book post was ac­com­pa­nied by a video show­ing young mean at a fish­ing out­let, which be­gan with the men com­plain­ing of the PDP-led THA be­ing "just like the PNM" be­fore com­plain­ing about a lack of job op­por­tu­ni­ties.

Duke has been feud­ing with THA Chief Sec­re­tary Far­ley Au­gus­tine, af­ter call­ing on the THA to pro­vide as­sis­tance to a cul­tur­al group of To­bag­o­ni­anas who went to New York to per­form and found them­selves in some fi­nan­cial dif­fi­cul­ties.

Af­ter chal­leng­ing Au­gus­tine pub­licly, Au­gus­tine then said he would re­view Duke's re­spon­si­bil­i­ties in the THA.

Duke then fired Au­gus­tine and Sec­re­tary of Health, Well­ness & So­cial Pro­tec­tion Health Faith B Yis­rael as deputy po­lit­i­cal lead­ers of the par­ty.

He has al­so warned Au­gus­tine that his po­si­tion as Chief Sec­re­tary is at the be­hest of the par­ty, which ap­peared to be a veiled threat to seek to re­move him if Au­gus­tine did not align him­self with Duke's po­si­tion.
