A 25-year-old Arou­ca man was lured in­to a rob­bery in San­ta Cruz, by a man he met on the Grindr app, ear­ly on Mon­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the man met the stranger on the app and agreed to meet in-per­son at Sun Val­ley.

The man drove his grey Mit­subishi Lancer to the area around 12.45 am when he was con­front­ed by two men who beat him be­fore steal­ing his cell­phone, $50 in cash and his car keys.

The ban­dits then es­caped in the man’s car.

Of­fi­cers of the San Juan CID were on pa­trol in the area and took the man to hos­pi­tal where he was treat­ed.

Po­lice be­lieve where they found the vic­tim is not the ex­act lo­ca­tion where the rob­bery took place

How­ev­er in­ves­ti­ga­tors said due to the ex­tent of in­juries, the man was un­able to pro­vide a re­port as of­fi­cers could not lo­cate the ex­act scene of the rob­bery up to Mon­day morn­ing.
