The Elec­tions and Bound­aries Com­mis­sion is con­firm­ing that over four­teen hun­dred spe­cial elec­tors have so far cast their vote.

Spe­cial vot­ing be­gan on Mon­day, and the EBC is ex­pect­ing near­ly sev­en­teen thou­sand in­di­vid­u­als to par­tic­i­pate in the process.

Ac­cord­ing to a state­ment from the EBC, the high­est spe­cial vot­er turnout record­ed yes­ter­day was in the Aranguez/St. Joseph con­stituen­cy, where spe­cial vot­ers con­tin­ued to wait with­in the polling sta­tion precinct be­yond 3:00 p.m. to vote.

Pro­ceed­ings have so far been de­scribed as smooth.

Spe­cial elec­tors are per­sons who, due to the na­ture of their du­ties or cir­cum­stances, are un­able to vote on the of­fi­cial polling day.

They in­clude mem­bers of the pro­tec­tive ser­vices, EBC of­fi­cials, and elec­tion staff, among oth­ers.

Spe­cial vot­ing will end on Sun­day, April 27th.
