Both min­is­ters in the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion have sent con­do­lences to the fam­i­ly of 15-year-old Videsh Dookran, whose body was found in an aban­doned build­ing over the week­end (on Sat­ur­day, Oc­to­ber 8).

The po­lice be­lieve an al­ter­ca­tion may have led to the mur­der of the Form Three stu­dent at Ste Madeleine Sec­ondary School.

On Sun­day af­ter­noon, act­ing on an anony­mous tip, po­lice went to an area be­hind the Clas­sic Pluck Shop along Cipero Road, Gol­con­da, where they found Videsh Dookran’s body.

The young­ster had left the fam­i­ly home on Sat­ur­day at 2 pm, to vis­it a rel­a­tive in the vil­lage.  He nev­er re­turned home.

Min­is­ter of Ed­u­ca­tion, Dr Nyan Gads­by-Dol­ly, and Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion, Lisa Mor­ris-Ju­lian, ex­tend­ed “deep­est con­do­lences to the be­reaved fam­i­ly of Videsh Dookran”, in a brief state­ment re­leased in the Min­istry’s so­cial me­dia pages, to­day.

The state­ment read:

“The for­mer form three stu­dent of Ste. Madeleine Sec­ondary School met an un­time­ly pass­ing on the 8th of Oc­to­ber, 2022. The death of any young per­son is a loss to Trinidad and To­ba­go’s fu­ture.  May Videsh's soul rest in peace.”
