A mas­sive an­ti-crime po­lice ex­er­cise took place in Co­corite amidst the in­clement weath­er on Fri­day morn­ing and eight peo­ple were de­tained on en­quiries for var­i­ous of­fences.
The op­er­a­tion took place be­tween 2 am and 8 am un­der the su­per­vi­sion of Snr Supt Ramjohn.
Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, po­lice of­fi­cers re­ceived in­tel­li­gence of il­le­gal ac­tiv­i­ties in the area, and of­fi­cers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force, Court and Process Unit, the Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Re­sponse Team, the Joint Army Pa­trol Unit, and the Ca­nine Unit, among oth­ers, went in­to the area and locked it down car­ry­ing out sev­er­al search­es.
Eight peo­ple were tak­en in­to cus­tody for ques­tion­ing on var­i­ous en­quiries.
