Eight peo­ple were ar­rest­ed for var­i­ous of­fences dur­ing an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es con­duct­ed in the North Cen­tral Di­vi­sion (NCD) and Cen­tral Di­vi­sion on Thurs­day.

Ac­cord­ing to the TTPS, in the NCD, search war­rants were ex­e­cut­ed for firearms and am­mu­ni­tion in the Mara­cas St Joseph, St Joseph and Tu­na­puna Dis­tricts.

Five peo­ple were ar­rest­ed for en­quiries, among them homi­cide and gang-re­lat­ed ac­tiv­i­ties.

Mean­while in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, be­tween 8 pm on Wednes­day and 2 am on Thurs­day an ex­er­cise du­ty was con­duct­ed and sev­er­al search war­rants were ex­e­cut­ed for Nar­cotics, Firearms and Am­mu­ni­tion.

Po­lice say whilst pro­ceed­ing West along the main road in Mon­trose, in the vicin­i­ty of Sub­way, the of­fi­cers stopped and searched a white Maz­da mo­tor ve­hi­cle in which they re­port­ed­ly found a quan­ti­ty of mar­i­jua­na weigh­ing 233 grams.

Three oc­cu­pants of the ve­hi­cle were ar­rest­ed.

The TTPS said of­fi­cers al­so went to the Ven­dor’s Mall, Main Road, Ch­agua­nas where they saw a sus­pect known to them, up­on see­ing the marked Po­lice ve­hi­cles the sus­pect dropped a black bag al­leged­ly con­tain­ing 461 grams of mar­i­jua­na.

A war­rant is to be is­sued for his ar­rest.
