A relaxing afternoon turned brutal for an elderly man, after he was beaten with a cutlass and robbed of $800 at his Moruga home.
The 83-year-old man was watching television around 3 pm on Thursday, when three men walked in the house and attacked him. He was beaten on his head with a cutlass, and his home ransacked. The assailants then escaped through some nearby bushes. The elderly man received medical treatment, but he was not warded.
Officers from the St Mary’s Post, Area East Task Force and Municipal Police in Princes Town responded. However, searches for the suspects were unsuccessful.
