A re­lax­ing af­ter­noon turned bru­tal for an el­der­ly man, af­ter he was beat­en with a cut­lass and robbed of $800 at his Moru­ga home.

The 83-year-old man was watch­ing tele­vi­sion around 3 pm on Thurs­day, when three men walked in the house and at­tacked him. He was beat­en on his head with a cut­lass, and his home ran­sacked. The as­sailants then es­caped through some near­by bush­es. The el­der­ly man re­ceived med­ical treat­ment, but he was not ward­ed.

Of­fi­cers from the St Mary’s Post, Area East Task Force and Mu­nic­i­pal Po­lice in Princes Town re­spond­ed. How­ev­er, search­es for the sus­pects were un­suc­cess­ful.
