Energy Minister holds emergency vaccine meeting with stakeholders

Min­is­ter of En­er­gy Stu­art Young held an emer­gency meet­ing with stake­hold­ers to­day to dis­cuss the ad­min­is­tra­tion of 4000 vac­cines al­lo­cat­ed by the gov­ern­ment for “front-lin­ers” in the en­er­gy sec­tor.

Min­is­ter Young stat­ed that while the gov­ern­ment will be in a po­si­tion to de­liv­er the vac­cines by next week the en­er­gy com­pa­nies would be re­spon­si­ble for the han­dling and safe ad­min­is­tra­tion of the vac­cines to their work­ers.

The Min­is­ter of En­er­gy and En­er­gy In­dus­tries and Min­is­ter in the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter, the Ho­n­ourable Stu­art R. Young, M.P. held an emer­gency meet­ing with en­er­gy stake­hold­ers TO­DAY (21st May 2021) with re­gards to the Gov­ern­ment’s de­ci­sion to al­lo­cate 4000 vac­cines to the en­er­gy sec­tor’s “front lin­ers”.

Ex­ec­u­tives from the fol­low­ing en­er­gy com­pa­nies and en­er­gy sec­tor as­so­ci­a­tions were in at­ten­dance:
Shell, BP Trinidad and To­ba­go, BHP, EOG Re­sources Trinidad and To­ba­go, De­N­o­vo En­er­gy Lim­it­ed, Trinidad Pe­tro­le­um Hold­ings Lim­it­ed, Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed, the En­er­gy Cham­ber of Trinidad and To­ba­go and the Point Lisas In­dus­tri­al Es­tate As­so­ci­a­tion, all of whom wel­comed the vac­cines for their front lin­ers.

Min­is­ter Young in­di­cat­ed that while the Gov­ern­ment of the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go would be in a po­si­tion to de­liv­er the 4000 vac­cines by next week, the en­er­gy com­pa­nies would be asked to han­dle the safe and or­der­ly ad­min­is­tra­tion of the vac­cines to their front lin­ers.
 
This de­ci­sion by the Gov­ern­ment con­tin­ues its ef­forts and work to keep the en­er­gy sec­tor op­er­at­ing through­out the man­age­ment of the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic.
