Relatives of murdered mechanical engineer Raidal Persad yesterday remained in shock, as they struggled to accept his death following a deadly ambush in Carlsen Field, Chaguanas, on Tuesday.
Persad, 53, of Tigress Road, Riverview Park, Montrose, Chaguanas, was shot several times around 5 pm inside his car.
He was found bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds, still strapped into the driver’s seat.
Police said the victim worked as a mechanical engineer at Methanex Ltd.
Officers from the Freeport Police Station received an anonymous call around 5.45 pm on Tuesday, informing them that a man had been killed.
Responding officers found the victim in a white Audi which was stalled along Pipecon Road, Carlsen Field.
The victim, who was in a blue jersey and navy blue three quarter pants, was seen slumped over the passenger seat. Among the evidence recovered at the scene were eight 9mm spent shell casings, the victim’s wallet, which reportedly contained $1,492 in cash, several bank cards; national identification card and his driver’s permit.
When Guardian Media contacted Persad’s wife, she declined to speak, indicating she was not in a frame of mind to share details about her husband just yet.
