Three armed assailants claiming to be police officers robbed an elderly man of his licensed shotgun and ammunition in Biche on Tuesday.
The 74-year-old man told police that he was at his estate at Palo Trace, La Salle Village, with his 16-gauge shotgun and 13 rounds of 16-gauge cartridges.
Around 11.30 am he was approached by three suspects armed with shotguns. They wore combat boots, berets and one of them had on camouflage pants. Claiming to be police officers, they instructed him to put his shotgun on the ground and lie face down on the ground.
Fearing for his life, he did as they ordered. The suspects took his shotgun and 13 rounds of 16-gauge cartridges from a knapsack he had on his back.
As they ordered him to remain on the ground for 10 minutes, they escaped through the bushes. Ag Cpl Ramkelawan of the Bice Police Station is investigating.
