The European Union Delegation to Trinidad and Tobago has announced the appointment of Ambassador Cecile Tassin as the new European Union Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago. Ambassador Tassin presented her credentials to President Christine Carla Kangaloo, ORTT, following a courtesy call to the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.
Ambassador Tassin succeeds Ambassador Peter Cavendish, who retired at the end of August. She brings three decades of experience within the European Union. She has held positions at the European Commission headquarters in Brussels and in EU Delegations worldwide, including Africa and the Caribbean.
Before her current assignment, Ambassador Tassin served as Advisor to the Africa Director in the Directorate-General for International Partnerships of the European Commission in Brussels. She has experience in international relations and diplomatic practices.
Ambassador Tassin is originally from France. She holds a Master’s Degree in Comparative Public Law from Sorbonne University, Paris, and a Master’s Degree in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges.
The EU Delegation, under Ambassador Tassin’s leadership, will focus on advancing mutual interests between the European Union and Trinidad and Tobago. Collaborative efforts are expected to continue in areas of political dialogue, trade, and development cooperation.
Ambassador Tassin met with officials at the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs to discuss priorities and ongoing initiatives. The delegation looks forward to strengthening relations and maintaining open channels of communication between the European Union and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.
