Fire officers responded to a report of a blaze at the Central Bank building in downtown Port-of-Spain on Friday night, but say it was not a fire but actually steam.
Fire officers from the Wrightson Road Fire Station confirmed that they received a report of smoke emanating from the third floor of the building around 11.13 pm, prompting them to visit the building, check the area, but found no signs of fire.
The fire officers said what was originally thought to be smoke was actually steam from the building’s ventilation system.
No further information on the incident was available from the fire service or the police.
When Guardian Media visited the area yesterday morning, the outside of the building appeared to be in good condition, with no sign of smoke or fire damage. —SS
