In­shan Ali, 57, and his son Saeed Ali are in ur­gent need of blood do­na­tions fol­low­ing a se­ri­ous road traf­fic ac­ci­dent on Fri­day night that claimed the life of Hy­matie Ali, 60—the wife of In­shan and moth­er of Saeed.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, Hy­matie was seat­ed in the front pas­sen­ger seat of a Mit­subishi Lancer, reg­is­tra­tion PBH 3779, dri­ven by her son Saeed, when the ve­hi­cle col­lid­ed with a black Lexus SUV dri­ven by a man from Val­sayn. In­shan was seat­ed in the rear of the ve­hi­cle at the time.

The fa­tal crash oc­curred along the South­ern Main Road, ap­prox­i­mate­ly 100 me­tres north of Trantrill Road, near the Val­sayn Teach­ers’ Col­lege.

Yes­ter­day, the vic­tims’ daugh­ter, Syrah Ali, 31, said her fa­ther and broth­er were trans­ferred to the In­ten­sive Care Unit at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex. They are un­der­go­ing emer­gency treat­ment for mul­ti­ple in­ter­nal in­juries, frac­tures, and bro­ken bones.

Syrah said that her fa­ther is a spe­cial re­serve po­lice­man and she was vis­it­ed on Sat­ur­day by an of­fi­cer from the Of­fice of the Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice. She was at the fam­i­ly’s home in Ibis Gar­dens, Ca­roni, when the ac­ci­dent oc­curred. Her par­ents and broth­er had been re­turn­ing from vis­it­ing her grand­moth­er at Pasea Main Road, Tu­na­puna, when tragedy struck.

Still reel­ing from the sud­den loss of her moth­er, Syrah said she is lean­ing on the sup­port of rel­a­tives to cope with the emo­tion­al toll.

The fam­i­ly is ur­gent­ly ap­peal­ing for blood do­na­tions. Con­tri­bu­tions can be made at any blood bank, and donors are asked to make the do­na­tion chit out to ei­ther In­shan Ali or Saeed Ali. Once com­plete, donors are asked to con­tact the fam­i­ly’s rel­a­tive, Ansar Ali, at 325-0779.
