Inshan Ali, 57, and his son Saeed Ali are in urgent need of blood donations following a serious road traffic accident on Friday night that claimed the life of Hymatie Ali, 60—the wife of Inshan and mother of Saeed.
According to police reports, Hymatie was seated in the front passenger seat of a Mitsubishi Lancer, registration PBH 3779, driven by her son Saeed, when the vehicle collided with a black Lexus SUV driven by a man from Valsayn. Inshan was seated in the rear of the vehicle at the time.
The fatal crash occurred along the Southern Main Road, approximately 100 metres north of Trantrill Road, near the Valsayn Teachers’ College.
Yesterday, the victims’ daughter, Syrah Ali, 31, said her father and brother were transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. They are undergoing emergency treatment for multiple internal injuries, fractures, and broken bones.
Syrah said that her father is a special reserve policeman and she was visited on Saturday by an officer from the Office of the Commissioner of Police. She was at the family’s home in Ibis Gardens, Caroni, when the accident occurred. Her parents and brother had been returning from visiting her grandmother at Pasea Main Road, Tunapuna, when tragedy struck.
Still reeling from the sudden loss of her mother, Syrah said she is leaning on the support of relatives to cope with the emotional toll.
The family is urgently appealing for blood donations. Contributions can be made at any blood bank, and donors are asked to make the donation chit out to either Inshan Ali or Saeed Ali. Once complete, donors are asked to contact the family’s relative, Ansar Ali, at 325-0779.
