A 34-year-old father of five died after his motorcycle slammed into concrete barriers along the highway in La Brea on Monday night.

Kenzie Blondell, a mechanic of Charles Street, La Romaine, had been liming with friends before the crash. He was riding his blue Suzuki 600 along the Vance River Access Road when the incident occurred.

An eyewitness said around 7:35 p.m., Blondell attempted to overtake a Honda Civic to merge onto the entrance ramp to the Archibald De Leon Highway. He lost control of the motorcycle and collided with the concrete barriers.

An ambulance took Blondell to the Point Fortin Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead at 8:42 p.m.

Police towed the motorcycle to the La Brea Police Station.
