The fa­ther of a 16-year-old San Fer­nan­do West Sec­ondary stu­dent, who was beat­en in a class­room by oth­er stu­dents, is now con­tem­plat­ing le­gal af­ter get­ting a luke­warm re­sponse from school of­fi­cials and the po­lice.

Speak­ing to re­porters out­side the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion’s Vic­to­ria Ed­u­ca­tion Dis­trict of­fice in San Fer­nan­do yes­ter­day, Anell Jor­dan was vis­i­bly up­set over the en­tire in­ci­dent.

“She was bul­lied and I find noth­ing com­ing out of this be­cause I find that in school, not even a teacher, nor a prin­ci­pal, nor a dean has as yet con­tact­ed us, due to what hap­pened in school on Mon­day,” he lament­ed.

The fight was record­ed by stu­dents on their cell­phones and two videos have since gone vi­ral.

“I ask­ing al­lyuh kind­ly to look in­to this please, be­cause right now, my child is fright­ened to go back out to school.

“She shame, she don’t know what to do, she’s trau­ma­tised, so I want to know where I could get some ad­vice,” the fa­ther said.

Ques­tion­ing what the Gov­ern­ment and Ed­u­ca­tion Min­is­ter were do­ing about school vi­o­lence, he said when he saw the videos he was shocked.

“I could not be­lieve my child has been bul­lied. Right now, I’m not in the right frame of mind … I can’t sleep with this.”

He said if the au­thor­i­ties fail to act, he will seek le­gal ad­vice.

“I will be tak­ing this fur­ther be­cause if the is school not do­ing any­thing and the min­istry not do­ing any­thing, I will go to my at­tor­ney and I will take it to a dif­fer­ent lev­el,” he said.

Due to the blows she re­ceived, Jor­dan said his daugh­ter is hav­ing dif­fi­cul­ty hear­ing and is ex­pe­ri­enc­ing body pains.

“So I want to know what these par­ents are send­ing their chil­dren to school to learn or to be crim­i­nals, be­cause me not send­ing mine to be no crim­i­nal. I want to know where I could seek some kind of jus­tice out of this.”

He said his daugh­ter had on­ly re­turned to school on Mon­day af­ter be­ing on sus­pen­sion for a week and two days. He said she was ac­cused by some stu­dents of mak­ing a fake so­cial me­dia pro­file of a fe­male stu­dent. How­ev­er, he said his daugh­ter did not own a cell­phone.

He claimed a dean had sent his daugh­ter home on Oc­to­ber 26 but she was not giv­en a let­ter in­di­cat­ing why she was sus­pend­ed.

“I want to know if my child is some piece of rub­bish for these teach­ers to be putting my child out of school with­out a par­ent com­ing to pick up a child. I can’t take this no more, I need the min­istry to get in­to this please, I beg­ging,” he added.

Jor­don al­so com­plained that a woman of­fi­cer at the po­lice sta­tion re­fused to ac­cept his daugh­ter’s med­ical re­port which he col­lect­ed from the hos­pi­tal. He claimed the of­fi­cers made him leave the sta­tion while they took a state­ment from his daugh­ter.

“If it is I did pick up my­self and go by the school and beat some­body then they would ah say ad­van­tage. I deal­ing with it the right way, jus­tice. So I ask­ing for some kind of help, I need to know what it is go­ing on,” he lament­ed.

Con­tact­ed yes­ter­day, an Ed­u­ca­tion Min­istry of of­fi­cial said the TTPS Cy­ber Crime Unit was in­ves­ti­gat­ing the fake pro­file al­le­ga­tion, while the min­istry is in­ves­ti­gat­ing the fight.
