A total of 22,318 passengers and 7,570 vehicles were transported by ferries between Trinidad and Tobago during the 2025 Tobago Carnival last month.
The T&T Inter-Island Transportation Company Limited (TTIT) in a release yesterday said 68 trips were completed between October 21 and 29, including 22 additional sailings to meet increased demand.
Caribbean Airlines Ltd (CAL) had also added 3,200 extra seats for the period, supplementing the 18,792 seats already available between October 22 and 29.
The airline used an additional Boeing 737 aircraft to ease air bridge congestion and facilitate travel to the island for the festivities.
This means about 44,000 people travelled to Tobago this year for October Carnival—22,318 by ferry and roughly 22,000 by air, according to figures from CAL and the Inter-Island Transportation Company.
Deputy Chief Secretary Faith Brebnor described the event as a “resounding success”, noting record-high visitor arrivals, full hotel occupancy, and an incident-free festival.
The Tobago House of Assembly allocated just under $12 million for this year’s Carnival, up from $8.5 million in 2024. Brebnor said the investment was justified given the strong turnout and positive economic impact.
TTIT said all sailings were fully subscribed and thanked passengers for their cooperation during one of the busiest travel periods of the year between the twin islands. —Elizabeth Gonzales
