While motorists in South Trinidad faced long lines at the Licensing Office yesterday, the Port-of-Spain branch was less chaotic.
Unlike the first week of the new year, where licensing offices across the country were flooded with motorists confused and frustrated over price hikes and late fee penalties, yesterday was the first day Guardian Media observed a smaller crowd at the Wrightson Road branch.
But it was not business as usual for the entire day as Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Eli Zakour did admit there was a system crash yesterday.
However, Zakour said the system only crashed for five minutes before the issue was resolved.
He did not confirm if the technical issue caused any issues for motorists.
Guardian Media also observed that the Licensing Office was outfitted with new signage so motorists can see the new increased fees for all motor vehicle-related issues.
Attempts to contact Transport Commissioner Clive Clarke and Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) Road Safety Coordinator PC Brent Batson were futile yesterday.
