Be­fore An­tho­ny Cur­tis “Fight­er” Greene bled to death at an old NP Gas Sta­tion in Point Fortin on Fri­day night, he told his for­mer girl­friend that he was leav­ing to meet his moth­er.
Greene's moth­er died last Feb­ru­ary from COVID-19.
“You know he told me he was go­ing to meet his moth­er when the as­sailant came to him. All my neigh­bours are watch­ing me be­cause I am talk­ing the truth,” Jacque­line Mur­ray said at the mur­der scene on Sat­ur­day.
Blood re­mained at the pump of the de­funct gas sta­tion in Point Ligoure, where Point Fortin po­lice found Greene's body af­ter re­spond­ing to a re­port of a wound­ing. They re­port­ed that Greene, 52, of Spring Trace, War­den Road, had an al­ter­ca­tion with two men who threw bot­tles at him. As the in­ci­dent es­ca­lat­ed, one fa­tal­ly stabbed the Point Bor­ough Cor­po­ra­tion work­er. One of his friends told Guardian Me­dia that Greene was among a group of peo­ple drink­ing al­co­hol in the area be­hind the gas sta­tion.
His for­mer girl­friend, Jacque­line Mur­ray, said he was lim­ing in the area and bought her a drink be­fore the quar­rel broke out. Mur­ray said Greene walked away, but his killer pur­sued. She said al­though Greene was drunk and cursed, he did not at­tack any­one.

“Now, every­body is watch­ing me. I am not go­ing to lie. I was here. Not I alone was there. All my neigh­bours, so we know every­thing that is go­ing on here be­cause I am not threat­ened. I am still fear­ful for my life be­cause the one that did him that is a child, and we are neigh­bours around here.”
Po­lice did not ar­rest any­one up to yes­ter­day evening.
Greene got his nick­name Fight­er be­cause he bred the fish dur­ing his younger days. His sis­ter Kath­leen said he was nev­er a vi­o­lent or bad per­son but spent over a decade at the Car­rera Con­vict Prison for co­caine of­fences.
Kath­leen had just re­turned from a group meet­ing when she got a call.
“My niece called me and said: Aun­ty Kath­leen, Fight­er, some­body chopped him up, and he is by the gas sta­tion. So I went down there. When I went, I saw him ly­ing down there. He was all in blood. The po­lice were there, but they did not want me to go close to the body,” Kath­leen said.
Greene was not stay­ing at home re­cent­ly but with a friend in the area.
Kath­leen said Green was wear­ing gar­den boots he used when cut­ting grass in peo­ple's yards. She could not say what caused the al­ter­ca­tion, on­ly that he was al­ways bor­row­ing mon­ey from peo­ple.
