Fire­fight­ers are us­ing cranes to dump wa­ter through the roof of Dansteel Lim­it­ed as they bat­tle a fire on the com­pound.

Wreck­ers and fork­lifts are drag­ging out ve­hi­cles from the com­pa­ny's yard as the fire spreads from the up­per to the low­er floors.

It is un­cer­tain whether the en­tire build­ing was evac­u­at­ed yet, but com­pa­ny of­fi­cials are cur­rent­ly at the muster point tak­ing count of every­one present.

There are over 100 em­ploy­ees em­ployed at this lo­ca­tion. Fire­fight­ers are al­so on stand­by at the Schlum­berg­er com­pound next door to en­sure that the fire does not spread.

The back por­tion of the hard­ware is now en­gulfed along with the up­per floors.

Pre­lim­i­nary re­ports in­di­cate a group of work­ers were weld­ing on the roof when sparks spread to the ceil­ing.

Jen­nifer Bikaw, Chief Fi­nan­cial Of­fi­cer said 60 peo­ple were in the build­ing at the time and all have been ac­count­ed for. She said the cause of the fire is un­known.
