Of­fi­cers of the Na­tion­al Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Unit (NSOU) seized a firearm and am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing a tar­get­ed op­er­a­tion in Ch­agua­nas yes­ter­day.

Be­tween 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Fri­day, po­lice fo­cused on lo­cat­ing pri­or­i­ty of­fend­ers, want­ed per­sons, and in­di­vid­u­als of in­ter­est with­in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion dis­trict.

Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion from the pub­lic about the pos­si­ble pres­ence of il­le­gal firearms, of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to Lime­head Road, Chase Vil­lage.

A search ap­prox­i­mate­ly 200 feet off the road­way in dense bush along the Chan­der­nagore Riv­er Bank led to the re­cov­ery of one shot­gun and sev­en rounds of 12-gauge car­tridges.

The items were se­cured and lodged at Pi­ar­co Po­lice Sta­tion, pend­ing fur­ther en­quiries.

The op­er­a­tion was co­or­di­nat­ed by ACP Crim­i­nal Di­vi­sion Michael Pierre and led by Ag. ASP St. Clair un­der the su­per­vi­sion of Sgt Bap­tiste.
