Officers of the National Special Operations Unit (NSOU) seized a firearm and ammunition during a targeted operation in Chaguanas yesterday.
Between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Friday, police focused on locating priority offenders, wanted persons, and individuals of interest within the Central Division Chaguanas Police Station district.
Acting on information from the public about the possible presence of illegal firearms, officers proceeded to Limehead Road, Chase Village.
A search approximately 200 feet off the roadway in dense bush along the Chandernagore River Bank led to the recovery of one shotgun and seven rounds of 12-gauge cartridges.
The items were secured and lodged at Piarco Police Station, pending further enquiries.
The operation was coordinated by ACP Criminal Division Michael Pierre and led by Ag. ASP St. Clair under the supervision of Sgt Baptiste.
