Fitzgerald Hinds appointed Minister of Public Utilities, Jason Williams to fill Le Hunte's spot in the Senate

Fitzger­ald Hinds has been ap­point­ed as Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Util­i­ties while ra­dio per­son­al­i­ty Ja­son Williams has moved from the stu­dio to the Sen­ate fol­low­ing the res­ig­na­tion Robert Le Hunte over the week­end.

Prime Min­is­ter Dr. Kei­th Row­ley in a state­ment post­ed to his so­cial me­dia con­firmed he has ad­vised Pres­i­dent Paula-Mae Weekes to re­voke Le Hunte's ap­point­ment as a Sen­a­tor and Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Util­i­ties.

Le Hunte is­sued his res­ig­na­tion as a Sen­a­tor and Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Util­i­ties with ef­fect from May 16, 2020, fol­low­ing a fall­out in the cab­i­net con­cern­ing plans for the Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty.

Hinds, the Laven­tille West MP, will take up the Pub­lic Util­i­ties port­fo­lio, which he pre­vi­ous­ly held un­til Le Hunte as­sumed the po­si­tion in June 2017.

Hinds, how­ev­er, will con­tin­ue his role as Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of the At­tor­ney Gen­er­al and Le­gal Af­fairs.
The Prime Min­is­ter al­so con­firmed Williams, who had on­ly last week been an­nounced as the PNM prospec­tive can­di­date for Barataria/San Juan, will fill Le Hunte's spot in the Sen­ate.
