Five female students have been charged in connection with the assault of a 15-year-old girl outside Holy Faith Convent in Couva earlier this month.

The incident occurred on June 10, and cellphone footage of the attack has since gone viral.

The victim, a Form Four student at the school, was reportedly attacked by the group after classes ended. She later sought medical treatment for her injuries.

According to a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the matter was promptly reported and investigated.

Following inquiries led by WPC Boodoo of the Couva Police Station, the five suspects—ages 14 to 18 years, all from the Couva district—were formally charged today (June 25, 2025) with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The TTPS has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy for violence—particularly among school-aged children—and says it will continue working with schools, parents, and community leaders to promote peaceful conflict resolution.
