Five persons were arrested and five firearms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics seized, by officers during anti-crime operations conducted across the country on Friday.
In the North Central Division, Task Force officers conducted an exercise in Area East between 2:30 am and 6 am, during which, the officers proceeded to a bar where they conducted a search, which led to the discovery of one revolver and three rounds of ammunition in the stockroom area.
Two suspects, a 30-year-old man of Arima and a 24-year-oldwoman of Pinto, were arrested in connection with the find.
Meanwhile, in the South Western Division, Task Force officers, along with CID and personnel of the Fyzabad, Oropouche and Santa Flora police stations, conducted an operation in the Fyzabad district between 5 am and 11 am.
As a result, one pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of cannabis were seized, and three suspects arrested.
In Area North of the Northern Division, Task Force officers were on mobile patrol between 5 am and 8 am, when acting on information received, they proceeded to an open lot of land at Manuel Congo, where they found one pistol, loaded with a magazine containing two rounds of ammunition.
Meanwhile, in the Santa Cruz district, officers conducted an exercise between 1 pm and 4 pm, yesterday, which resulted in several areas being searched and one black shotgun along with six 12-gauge cartridges being discovered in an abandoned concrete structure.
And, in the North Eastern Division, Task Force, Gang and Intelligence Unit and Barataria CID officers conducted an exercise between 3:30 am and 6:30 am, yesterday, during which they found one rifle and 29 rounds of ammunition.
