Residents recently affected by heavy rains and flooding in several parts of the constituency of Chaguanas West have been given food relief hampers by their MP Dinesh Rambally.
Assisted by members of his staff, Rambally handed the Namdevco food boxes to scores of needy and underprivileged residents of the La Paille and Caroni settlements, which are situated on the flood plain of the Caroni River.
Also taking part in the distribution, which occurred on Tuesday, were councillor Richard Rampersad and constituency supporter Richard Ramkissoon.
Rambally, who is recovering from a slight muscle injury that has restricted his mobility, said he has been in constant contact with the chairman of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation Kwesi Robinson, as flood relief efforts were conducted.
Hampers, which were allocated to the Chaguanas West constituency by the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands and Fisheries, were also given for distribution to councillors Richard Rampersad (St Augustine South/Piarco/St Helena); Samuel Sankar (Kelly Village/Warrenville); Amit Sooknanan (San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation) and Wendy Francis (Felicity/Endeavour) to help residents in their communities.
