Flooding reported in Diego Martin and Caparo Valley

The Min­istry of Rur­al De­vel­op­ment and Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment has is­sued a pub­lic ad­vi­so­ry high­light­ing re­port­ed flood lo­ca­tions fol­low­ing re­cent rain­fall ac­tiv­i­ty.

As of this morn­ing, flood con­di­tions have been con­firmed in parts of the Diego Mar­tin and Cou­va/Tabaquite/Tal­paro re­gions.

In Diego Mar­tin, flood­ing has been ob­served along the West­ern Main Road in Co­corite, af­fect­ing traf­fic flow and prompt­ing con­cern for res­i­dents and busi­ness­es in low-ly­ing ar­eas.

Mean­while, in cen­tral Trinidad, the Ca­paro Val­ley Bras­so Road—specif­i­cal­ly in the vicin­i­ty of the breed­ing unit—has al­so ex­pe­ri­enced sig­nif­i­cant flood­ing un­der the ju­ris­dic­tion of the Cou­va/Tabaquite/Tal­paro Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion.

High tide was record­ed ear­li­er at 7:32 AM, with low tide ex­pect­ed at 2:28 PM. 

These tidal changes may im­pact drainage and flood­ing sever­i­ty in coastal and river­ine ar­eas.

The Min­istry is urg­ing af­fect­ed in­di­vid­u­als to con­tact their re­spec­tive Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment Unit hot­lines for as­sis­tance. Cit­i­zens are en­cour­aged to stay tuned to of­fi­cial up­dates through so­cial me­dia chan­nels @RDL­GTT and to ex­er­cise cau­tion when com­mut­ing through flood-prone zones.
