A 59-year-old man is the coun­try’s lat­est road fa­tal­i­ty fol­low­ing an ac­ci­dent on Sat­ur­day night.

The man was iden­ti­fied by po­lice as Jaishe­ma Takram.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, Takram, a fork­lift dri­ver, was at­tempt­ing to cross the Churchill Roo­sevelt High­way in the vicin­i­ty of the Cipri­ani Labour Col­lege just af­ter the walkover af­ter 7 pm on Sat­ur­day.

It is said that a white van trav­el­ling in an east­er­ly di­rec­tion col­lid­ed with Takram and he was thrown some me­tres along the high­way.

He died on the scene.

Po­lice are con­duct­ing in­quiries.
