Po­lice have seized four il­le­gal firearms, 132 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion, and nar­cotics, and ar­rest­ed five peo­ple dur­ing mul­ti-di­vi­sion op­er­a­tions over the past 24 hours.

Ac­cord­ing to the TTPS, in the North­ern Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers con­duct­ed a rov­ing op­er­a­tion in the Mal­oney Dis­trict from mid­night to 4 am. In the vicin­i­ty of Build­ing 12, sev­er­al men fled as a po­lice ve­hi­cle ap­proached. A search of the area re­cov­ered a Smith and Wes­son pis­tol, and a lat­er re­turn be­tween 6 am and 9 am un­cov­ered a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing 12 rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion.

Dur­ing the same op­er­a­tion, four men were de­tained. One, in con­nec­tion with a rob­bery in Arou­ca, was al­so al­leged­ly found with 148 grammes of cannabis. Three oth­ers, aged 20, 23, and 34, were found in a ve­hi­cle re­port­ed stolen in the San Juan Po­lice Dis­trict on 3 June 2023.

In the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers from Besson Street and Bel­mont Po­lice Sta­tions, as­sist­ed by the Ca­nine Unit, con­duct­ed a drug block op­er­a­tion be­tween 8 pm and mid­night. Search­es along St. Barb’s Road, Harpe’s Place, Pic­cadil­ly Street, Nel­son Street, and the Beetham led to the seizure of five grammes of co­caine and nine cannabis plants.

Ear­li­er, be­tween 4:30 pm and 6 pm, of­fi­cers led by ASP Cadette searched a res­i­dence on St. Lu­cien Road, Diego Mar­tin. A Glock 43 pis­tol with a 10-round mag­a­zine, four pack­ets of cannabis, three scales, a seal­er, and sev­er­al bags were re­port­ed­ly found. The 32-year-old oc­cu­pant was ar­rest­ed and charged with pos­ses­sion of a firearm, pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion, and pos­ses­sion of cannabis for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing.

In­tel­li­gence al­so led of­fi­cers to a bushy area off Morne Co­co Road, Diego Mar­tin, where a search un­cov­ered two pis­tols and two mag­a­zines. These items were seized and tak­en to Bel­mont Po­lice Sta­tion for fur­ther en­quiries.

In the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, mem­bers of the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force, Area North and South, along with the Ca­nine Unit, con­duct­ed Op­er­a­tion Fes­tive Shield be­tween 10 am and 2 pm. Dur­ing a search of an aban­doned con­crete struc­ture on Free­dom Street, En­ter­prise, of­fi­cers found 10 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion hid­den in­side a con­crete block.

In Cou­va, a team from the Cou­va Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment dis­cov­ered 100 rounds of .22 am­mu­ni­tion hid­den in a black plas­tic bag in­side a re­frig­er­a­tor on Trot­man Road, Mc Bean Vil­lage. In­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to all these find­ings are on­go­ing.
