A se­ries of pa­trols and search­es in St Joseph ear­ly on Fri­day morn­ing led to the seizure of mar­i­jua­na, a gun and the ar­rest of four men. Po­lice said of­fi­cers of the North-Cen­tral Di­vi­sion Task Force West, the Tu­na­puna CID, the North­ern Di­vi­sion Sup­port Unit and the Ca­nine Unit be­gan the ex­er­cise at 3 am and end­ed it at 7 am.

Dur­ing the op­er­a­tion, po­lice vis­it­ed a house on Gua­mal Hill, Acono Road, Mara­cas, St Joseph, where they re­port­ed­ly found a Beretta PX4 Storm pis­tol with 24 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

A 29-year-old man who po­lice de­scribed as a "pri­or­i­ty of­fend­er" was ar­rest­ed. Po­lice vis­it­ed an­oth­er house in the area where they al­leged­ly found 171 grams of mar­i­jua­na an­dar­rest­ed a 46-year-old man who was in­side. While in the area po­lice ar­rest­ed two men for the pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na.

The ex­er­cise was led by ACP Os­wain Subero, Snr Supt Richard Smith, Supt Ter­rence Now­butt and W/Supt Pow­der, with su­per­vi­sion from Sgt Pe­ters and Cpl Good­ing.
